1.I'd like to ask my UK-flisties to turn their attention to
JENGbA. I went to talk about this organisation today, and it would be an underestimation to say that I was disgusted with what I heard. Basically, the UK has a legal doctrine called
Joint Enterprise, which, while it may seem somewhat sensible in theory, has caused a lot of devastation for people who are essentially innocent of any crime, other than simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time (sometimes they might not even have been at the scene, but just know the perpetrator/s). Another thing that was brought up is the appalling way minors are treated in the criminal system. The UK might very well have the worst track record on this in Western Europe. One example was 33 year-old man who's been in prison for 20 years. Yes, that means he's been imprisoned since the age of 13! In this case, it is likely that he's innocent, but even if he wasn't, it is still my opinion that imprisoning children for that amount of time is abuse, period.
2.I'm going home to the Motherland tomorrow, and will stay for 12 days. I'll finally get to try. that strong beer that we're now allowed to brew, due to the law being changed in my absence! I guess they were too afraid to change it while I was in the country. There would be mayhem and technicolour vomiting!
